The house

You have just watched a piece being made. Come and watch a real one.

Casa Vela is one room and one bench on NE 39th Street. Everything we sell was cut, set and finished about nine metres from where you will be standing, by the two people whose names are on the door. There is no back catalogue and no second location.

We would rather you came in than ordered. Not because we are precious about it — because a stone photographs badly and behaves completely differently in daylight, on your own hand.

The bench

Two people, one room, no shortcuts.

Elena raises and sets. Tomás cuts. Between them they have forty-one years at the bench, most of it in Valenza before Miami. If you commission something, they are the ones who make it, and you are welcome to come and watch them do it.

The door is open Tuesday to Saturday.

Walk in and look, with no appointment and no obligation to say anything to anybody. If you would rather have the bench to yourself, ask for an evening and we will close for you.
